September KyOSS Meeting

Short title for calendar grid: KyOSS
Date: Wednesday, Sep 11, 2013
Time: 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Location: LVL1 Hackerspace, 814 East Broadway (rear), Louisville KY 40204

Assorted topics: encryption and the NSA, a proposed new Javascript meetup, and Jim Troy will tell us about the R Project for Statistical Computing

Jim Troy will tell us about the R Project for Statistical Computing (Jim had planned to do as part of last month's program, but we ran out of time.)

Barton Chittenden has suggested we discuss encryption (and John Hicks seconded that). Here are a couple of good links on the general subject of privacy and security:

And we are all enrolled in one of these courses, right?

Brandon Keibler may attend to tell us about the local Restore the Fourth group.

Hector Escobedo may attend to propose holding a local Software Freedom Day on September 21.

Alex Bezuska is planning on attending to discuss forming a Javascript group.

John Hicks reports that several people have suggested some improvements to the KyOSS website, so he can discuss the site's general architecture and then we can schedule an open coding session to implement the improvements.
